Melvi Alvarado Biography

Born and raised in El Salvador, Melvi Alvarado began dancing at five and mastered Latin dance styles like Merengue, Samba, Bachata, and Afro-Latin Folklore by age eight. In 2008, he joined Adhesivo Dance Company, performing across El Salvador in festivals and competitions. Dance Fusion Calgary
Dance Fusion is a Non-profit Calgary based Latin dance group. The purpose of the group is to create a safe and healthy space for the expression of community and culture through dance.

The group exhibits a unique fusion of Latin American Folklore, Afro-Latino, and Estilo-Urbano styles. Through their art, the group hopes to create bridges between communities within Calgary.

Since the group’s creation in 2011, performers have participated in festivals across Alberta and Manitoba. Additionally, they have facilitated different workshops encouraging community members to join them.
