Share a moment that stands out from your rehearsal/creative process.
The moments that stand out the most are when we had to practice in a public space when we could not find a studio space to work in. We must look very strange rolling around in public, but it is also a good opportunity to think about what the audience sees. We also really value getting to explore contact work. Covid made it feel strange to work so closely with people, so it was nice to break that boundary again.
Why are you looking forward to the 2022 Dance YYC showcase?
We are looking forward to presenting an artistic work that is just for ourselves and outside of academic settings. We are excited to experiment with new artistic choices and paths that we have not gotten the opportunity to explore before.
What is something you wish you knew before pursuing a life in movement arts?
You are the only person that can make you pursue art. There are no other external motivators; it’s just you and your personal understanding that living without dancing doesn’t really feel like living at all.
