Join us on the evening of Dec 9, 2021, as Dancers’ Studio West celebrates its 40+1 anniversary at the Dark Arts (608 1st St SW Calgary; lobby of the GRAND). The evening will feature food, drinks, and an informal showing of the outcomes of the Dance Research Lab which concludes the day before. A limited number of early bird tickets are available until Dec 8 for $20. Regular tickets are $25.
18+ only. Your first drink is on us! Food and additional drinks are not included in the ticket price. Guidelines for the COVID-19 Restrictions Exemption Program by the Government of Alberta will be strictly followed.

2020 dashed our hopes of celebrating an important milestone--the 40th anniversary of the foundation of Dancers’ Studio West! As an expression of resilience and pride, Dancers’ Studio West announces its 40+1 anniversary celebration asserting that if something is worth celebrating, it’s worth celebrating late. We invite all dancers, our audiences, and supporters to gather (safely), break bread, and remind ourselves of the sweetness of living and dancing...in the flesh!
Our celebration will take place in the lobby of the historic GRAND theatre, which is currently run by the Dark Arts. The Dark Arts is an interim restaurant, lounge, and gallery that showcases the best local visual artists. Its underground, modern vibe sizzles in a building with a heritage extending back to 1912, making it the perfect venue for us to celebrate the past while staying focused on the now. Starting at 8pm, the evening will be punctuated with an informal sharing of the discoveries from the Dance Research Lab. In the days leading up to the 40+1 anniversary, a handful of Calgary’s shining dance artists will craft improvisational structures that inspire flow, curiosity, and spontaneity. Come witness these dancers create art in real-time! At one point, guests will be invited to share their own short dance improvisations (don’t worry, the bar will be open) as a tribute to an organization that has done so much for the dance community for more than four decades!
