Lawson Percussive Dance Arts Company Presents: Play It Forward
In partnership with Studio Bell and Scotiabank Backbeat, Lawson Percussive Dance Arts Company is excited to bring live tap dance, body percussion and movement to the NMC for an afternoon of pop-up performances.
The company will activate numerous exhibits within the museum with tap battles, body music, staircase dances, and new choreographic compositions celebrating the music of Canadian icons Oscar Peterson, KD Lang, Diana Krall, as well as jazz greats and music from around the globe. Live musicians include bass player Kodi Hutchinson and vocalist Johanna Sillanpaa.
The Calgary-based company integrates rhythm tap, body percussion and somatic movement practices into a unique visual and rhythmic experience, invigorating the viewers' senses. Play It Forward will have you snapping your fingers, while tapping into the heartbeat of our shared human experience during the pandemic.
