Corps Bara Dance Theatre presents Vital, featuring our professional company and the debut performance of CBII, Corps Bara's training company dedicated to furthering the education and artistic growth of Calgary's most dedicated young contemporary dance artists.

Vital delves into moments that make our heart pump faster, breath catch in our chest and eyes widen to take it all in; the electric moments that let us know we're alive. Six choreographers explore themes of exhilaration, courage, pain and curiosity, inviting audience members to consider the extremes of human experience through the visceral imagination of the dancing body.

Vital plays at DJD Dance Centre in the heart of the Beltline from February 23rd to 25th; evening performances are at 7:30pm, with a pay-what-you-can relaxed performance on Saturday February 25th at 2:00pm. Celebrating over 20 years of art-making, Corps Bara Dance Theatre’s mission is to explore life’s meaningful questions while facilitating an expansive, holistic dance practice. Under the artistic direction of Deanna Witwer, Corps Bara invites artists and audiences alike to engage with contemporary concert dance at the intersection of body, mind, and spirit. Recent projects include Resonant Soul, a 10-part meditative dance film

series, and a 20th Anniversary retrospective gala. Following Vital, the debut of Corps Bara’s pre-professional company CBII, Corps Bara presents Grief Marked, an immersive inter-arts installation in collaboration with mental health professionals, in March 2023 in Calgary and Edmonton.
