Stories in Motion

Stories in Motion: Garba folk dancing with Kajal Dattani
Sunday, October 27 at the Calgary Central Library

Join us to learn the Garba, a folk form that originates from Gujarat. Many traditional garbas are performed around a centrally lit lamp, a picture or a statue of the Hindu goddess Durga. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced dancer, this workshop is designed to immerse you in the artistry of traditional Indian dance.

Our instructor is Kajal Dattani from Kala Bhavan of Calgary, Calgary's premiere Indian dance school teaching Bharatanatyam, fusion & traditional folk dances of India. Kajal began her Bharatanatyam training with Kala Bhavan of Calgary in 2000. An instructor at Kala Bhavan since 2015, Kajal enjoys choreographing folk, fusion and contemporary pieces, and collaborating with various artists across Calgary.
