Meet Showcase Performer: Executive Dance Company
The Executive Dance Company is Father Lacombe High School's extracurricular dance training team under the direction of Kelly Brownlee. These young artists work with Calgary's dynamic professional dance community and attend festivals, local workshops, and performances to help develop performance and technical skills, increase their passion for dance, and provide them with a sense of community. In the fall term, The Executive Dance Company placed first in the High School Hip Hop dance battle championship as part of the YYC Street Dance and Hip Hop Festival with Pulse Studios. The winning set was created by student leaders and adjudicated by some of Canada's most exciting Hip Hop artists including JackSun Fryer, Kosi, and C-Child, and performed both at the YYC Hip Hop Battle Finals at the West Village Theatre and Dance at Noon at the University of Calgary. The piece we have prepared for the YYC Dance showcase, created for our Winter Showcase, Narnia, depicts Edmund's seduction by the Ice Witch and his subsequent redemption. We want to thank Father Lacombe Alumni Nadine Sanchez and The Masses directors Allen Collado and Angellyn Gail Gutierrez for creating the piece, Dance YYC, and Christahh Ahh for providing this opportunity to perform.
