Dance YYC Showcase Weekend!

Share a moment that stands out from your rehearsal/creative process!

In our rehearsals we share such great energy. Every day we step in the studio space with the intention of creating something awesome for the showcase, while simultaneously having a hilarious amount of fun. Too many memories to choose from!

What was your inspiration or starting point for the piece you'll be presenting at the Dance YYC Showcase?

For the Dance YYC Showcase we used a combination of Jazz and Hip Hop in our piece to demonstrate and highlight the different genres of dance that we train in at NextGen Dance. 

• The Jazz number created by Christahh Ahh is a playful swingin’ exploration of time, space, musicality and the fun of putting ‘social’ in social dancing!

• The Hip Hop number created by Sean Butler is focused on a foundational approach with the choreography, touching on some Breaking and Party elements. 

Why are you looking forward to the 2022 Dance YYC Showcase?

This will be our second season presenting at the DanceYYC Showcase, but for some of our dancers it will be the very first time you will see them as NextGen Dancers on the big stage. We are all so grateful for this opportunity to share our art with our dance community in YYC and we can’t wait to see what everyone has prepared!
